Shane Watson doesn't make music from a place of comfort. He makes it from a hospital bed, a recovery room, and the stubborn refusal to let metastatic thyroid cancer have the last word.
NightHawkX is his metalcore project — built from real illness, real pain, and a musical foundation that runs deep. Shane has eight years of formal piano training, six years of violin, and over a decade working inside the radio industry, learning exactly how music moves people and why it matters. That foundation doesn't just inform the songwriting. It shapes every structural and emotional decision behind it.
When spinal surgery in late 2024 took away his physical mobility, it didn't take away his creative output. Using a combination of detailed musical direction and industry veterans sourced through Musiversal, Shane rebuilds each track from the ground up — writing every lyric himself, mapping every arrangement, and working with professional performers to bring the songs the human weight they were always meant to carry. What you're hearing isn't a shortcut. It's hours of rebuilding, sometimes starting over entirely, until it's right.
Project details
What I'm working on currently are studio versions of the songs I created in part using Suno.AI. Once transcribed, the songs are “human” through and through, as the lyrics are 100% written by myself and the performances are all veterans of the music industry. The process is slow, but delivers a better quality product in the end. I can't wait to see how each of the songs turn out.
